The Timbco 435 "Feller buncher"
with a VH Mulcher attached instead of a saw head. Same machine, same valley, but different
cut blocks. The method of logging was cable or highlead. Two high elevation (5000'), north
facing slopes in the coastal mountains of SW, British Columbia. Photo
#16 is of a slope exactly 70% with the machine preparing spots as it is working
uphill.Ground conditions are soft with minimal disturbance occurring from the tracks. Note
the leveling cab to provide operator comfort. 450 spots per acre (mixed mounds or beds)
density (1100 spots per hectare) suggested cost of $0.75 each per spot. One of the most
expensive sites and treatments.
