15 - Australian Pine Slash (Photo 2) - Click on image to enlarge
Australian heavy Radiata Pine slash. (Both photos 14 & 15 are
the same site) When pulp prices are low, the slash loads increase. It is very difficult to
get a good photo of a mound when surrounded by slash. All that gets emphasized in the
picture is the slash. There is an excellent planting spot by "Neil's" left boot
in photo #15 and right boot in #14. This site has fine textured
soils with coarse fragments and receives a lot of wind damage. Protection from the wind
will be assisted by leaving slash in place as shown. The maintaining of moisture while
discouraging erosion and encouraging soil rebuilding will also be greater. Review photo #4. That may not be the best treatment for this site.
Suggested cost $0.30-$0.35 per spot.
